| VeriSign’s Messaging and Mobile Media Division Shatters Records |
Mobile messaging volumes continue to shatter records, according to the latest quarterly index of mobile messaging statistics compiled by the Messaging and Mobile Media Division of VeriSign. Across Asia Pacific, VeriSign saw an approximate 30 percent increase in the total number of international mobile messages sent and received over its network in Q1 2009 from Q4 2008. The company also saw rapid growth in the volume of mobile messaging traffic in this region, especially in South Asia where the number of mobile messages delivered by VeriSign jumped almost tenfold that quarter.
The VeriSign Inter-Carrier MMS and PictureMail platforms also continue to experience rigorous growth in MMS traffic. Compared to the first quarter of 2008, MMS and PictureMail volumes jumped 130 percent and 84 percent respectively. In total, VeriSign delivered more than 1.1 billion MMS messages in Q1 2009.

Kaspersky Lab CEO and co-founder Eugene Kaspersky has received the State Prize of the Russian Federation for Science and Technology (RFST). The official award ceremony took place on 12 June in the Kremlin where President Dmitry Medvedev presented Eugene Kaspersky with a diploma, a medal and 5 million rubles. The prize money will be forwarded to Eugene Kaspersky’s former school, the A.N. Kolmogorov School in Moscow that specializes in physics and mathematics.
The State Prize of the Russian Federation has been awarded annually since 1992 by the President of the Russian Federation for contributions not only to science and technology but also literature and art and humanitarian work, and is the highest acknowledgement of services to society and the state. The prize for science and technology is conferred to individuals for outstanding work, discoveries and achievements that enrich both Russian and world science and make significant contributions to the advancement of science and technology.

BT and Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) announced that they have signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance the overall security of the computing environment in the country.
The MOU was signed by Sudhir Narang, BT India Managing Director, and Director, CERT-In, Dr. Gulshan Rai. Commenting on the significance of the MOU with CERT-In, Mr. Narang , said, “BT is committed to help organizations around the world and in India secure their information which is their most critical asset. The MOU is a significant step forward in this direction. Both BT and Cert-In recognize that along with the benefits of increased computer connectivity, there are a host of new risks with computer hackers exploiting the vulnerabilities in the software and computer system.”

McAfee announced that it has completed the acquisition of privately owned Solidcore Systems, Inc. for approximately $33 million in cash up front and with an earn-out of up to an additional $14 million if certain performance targets are met. McAfee can now offer the industry’s first end-to-end compliance solution that includes dynamic whitelisting and application trust technology, antivirus, antispyware, host intrusion prevention, policy auditing and firewall technologies.
As businesses seek to more easily mitigate the risks associated with vulnerable or malicious applications downloaded by employees, they will extend beyond signature-based anti-malware with the addition of dynamic whitelisting and application trust technology.
