| McAfee Delivers Advanced Endpoint Protection for Macintosh |
McAfee announced that it has expanded its endpoint protection products for the Apple Macintosh platform. With the release of McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac, McAfee delivers a comprehensive endpoint protection solution that goes beyond just traditional anti-virus. This solution supports Apple’s latest Snow Leopard release of Mac OS X, in addition to Leopard and Tiger.
In addition to the traditionally strong markets such as higher education there has been significant growth in the number of Macs being deployed by enterprise customers and government agencies. This growth raises the profile of the Mac as a target platform for malware, viruses, spyware, phishing attacks and exploits. As a result, IT is demanding to have the ability to protect and manage security on Mac endpoints just as they do Windows endpoints. McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac lowers operational management costs by using a single integrated management platform for both Mac and Windows endpoints, and provides a truly integrated security solution.

| Data loss is the largest information security concern |
Symantec announced the findings of its study on the mounting risk of data loss in Indian enterprises. The study conducted by IDC (India) revealed that 79 percent of organizations highlighted data loss to be their most serious information security concern followed by other threats like virus and denial of service attacks and spam.
Despite data loss being considered as a looming threat, only 15 percent of the surveyed organizations have adopted any form of data loss prevention measures. This was largely a result of low awareness (32 percent) amongst enterprises on the impact and consequence of data loss and how data loss prevention technologies could safeguard reputation and revenue of organizations.
According to respondents, more than 50 percent of information residing within their organization is classified as sensitive. The study finds that more than 16 percent of organizations in India admitted to facing a data loss issue in the recent past. The major causes for these data losses were traced to unaware users, malicious insiders and increasing external threats from hackers and cybercriminals. The findings of the study elucidated how DLP is today being addressed at the highest levels with the CIO, CTO or a technical committee having the final say on the deployment in approximately 76% of organizations. Organizations must look beyond just installing products as that alone will not ensure success. Organizations should strive to achieve a sustainable DLP program that effectively addresses evolving risk factors and supports a culture of security.

The team consisted of Researchers who have proven academics in the information security domain and have accomplished track record in wireless security domain. Also, infySEC with its counterpart in Bangalore performed a similar kind of a initiative (War drive) the 1st week Sunday on September 2009 accompanying with the support of Media - Timesnow and BangloreMirror.
infySEC team was fully loaded with 3 Laptop loaded with 'state of art' Long range wireless cards with packet injection capabilities and external antenna of around 10Dbi+ which could roughly scan networks of around 2+ Kms of radius, also they carried a hi-end advanced PDA which could do the same for comparatively smaller scale, Also they had a set of GPS receivers to have all their movements located/recorded. They loaded these devices in a car with which they started war driving.(i.e. Wardriving is the act of searching for Wi-Fi wireless networks by a person in a moving vehicle, using a portable computer or PDA.)

ESET Announces Support for Windows 7 |
ESET has announced support for the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. The complete line of ESET products - ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 and ESET Smart Security 4 (home and business editions), ESET Remote Administrator 3, SysInspector and ESET Online Scanner now fully support Microsoft's new operating system.
In order to ensure full compatibility with Windows 7, ESET recommends that its customers download the newest installation packages for ESET Smart Security 4 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus, as well as ESET Remote Administrator 3 for business users. After downloading the above-mentioned products, it is recommended they be installed over existing copies.

eScan Introduces Auto Backup & Restore |
eScan 10 has introduced a unique feature of “Auto Backup and Restore” (ABR). This feature will be a part of eScan 10 AntiVirus & Internet Security Suite versions. This innovative feature of Auto backup and restore will take the anti virus security to another level.
This latest feature will work seamlessly on all OS versions including the new Windows 7. Once installed the backup feature will be enabled by default and all the backup files will be removed once eScan is uninstalled. It will take auto backups of all PE files. eScan’s distinct intelligence ensures that no back up is taken of infected files.
In case of a file getting infected with a virus, the all new eScan restores the clean file from its back up. If an unknown virus is present, and a backup of this virus happens, in subsequent updates, ABR automatically removes the backup of the virus. The ABR will also detect and take a new backup of the windows update or installed service pack files when downloaded from the Internet or the WSUS server.

RSA AND VERISIGN TEAM UP |
RSA and VeriSign are working together to provide organizations with the mutual benefit of an expanded VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) Authentication Service through the availability of RSA SecurID two-factor authentication technology for more choice in one-time password (OTP) authentication. VIP is a managed, shared authentication solution that provides its users with a single one-time password (OTP) authentication device to securely access multiple Web sites.
Organizations in search of strong authentication solutions will benefit from being able to use VIP in combination with RSA SecurID hardware tokens. RSA and VeriSign, both of whom were recently rated Best-in-Class for Multi-Channel Authentication Technology by Javelin Strategy & Research, are teaming up to address the market segment for managed, shared authentication services, offering organizations the convenience of a single platform. The technical and sales partnership signals a new chapter in the longstanding relationship between RSA and VeriSign. Twenty-five years ago, RSA pioneered two-factor authentication and encryption and in 1995, VeriSign was founded as a separate entity leveraging RSA technology to develop and provide digital identities through a managed services model.
VeriSign plans to complete the integration of the RSA SecurID Authentication Engine into the VIP Authentication Service by the end of December 2009, which will enable VIP customers to use RSA SecurID hardware authenticators. At that time, VeriSign will also resell RSA SecurID hardware tokens to VIP prospects and customers, and RSA will likewise resell the VIP Authentication Service to its prospects and customers.
